Hyperspectral and multi-mission high resolution optical remote sensing of aquatic environments

Description

The safety of aquatic environment has become a common global concern, and it is undoubtedly that remote sensing by satellite is the best way to monitor and evaluate the health of ecosystem in a long term. The Chinese partner-State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research of East China Normal University is the founding and leading unit of estuarine and coastal research in China. The foreign partner is an international team led by the Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences, as well as two other institutions from France and Argentina.

The objectives of this cooperative researches are: 1) to jointly develop new remotely sensed inversion algorithm, for the purposes of quantitative inversions about phytoplankton species, diagnostic pigment concentration and non-biological particle concentration/type/size in estuarine/coastal/inland turbid waters globally; 2) to fully explore the potentiality of applications about domestic/foreign advanced hyperspectral/high spatial resolution multi- mission satellite observation in the aspect of the water environmental monitor and quantitative assessment; 3) to develop algorithms and validate productions in turbid waters throughout the world.
